View Full Version : Searching this board

I have never been able to search this board for posts
that I know are here. I go to "search", type in a
sender's name or a word used in a reply in the
appropriate field, hit search, and get nothing in return.

I know that the date ranges are correct, too.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Is it my breath?

How are you accessing the newsgroup? If you are looking for messages that
are more than a few days old, you'll probably need to search a newsgroup
archive such as dejanews.com/deja.com/google.com.

Try this: go to http://www.google.com, click on "Groups" then "Advanced
Groups Search". Enter the newsgroup name
("microsoft.public.windowsxp.help_and_support") into the "Return only
messages from this newsgroup" box and your other search parameters as
desired.

Hi

The MS Web interface to the newsgroups are no good for this.

Use Google newsgroup search instead:

http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search?q=group:microsoft.public.win dowsxp.help_and_support

Greetings --

This isn't a "board," it's a Usenet news group. To search for
messages, you'll have to follow whatever instructions are to be found
in the help files of your news reader. Accessing this, or any other
news group via a web-based interface, as you have done, is highly
problematical, and severely limits your capabilities.
