I recently installed xp on a new hard drive. I had 98 installed on an old
one and had that one running when I did the install. i.e.
cd:\i386\winnt32.exe using 98. I did a fresh install on the new drive and it
runs but I cant boot off that drive. I have to use the 98 drive and select
xp on the loader screen. How can I set my new drive with xp to boot?

Take out both hard drives and look at the back of them. There should be a
small area of 2x4 pins with a white rectangular plastic piece covering two
of them. below the pins there are arrows to designate slave and master hard
drives. Pull out this plastic piece and realign it with the master pins on
the XP hard drive and on the 98 hard drive, align the plastic piece with
slave. Good luck.
