Why are there so many problems with voice recently? It just seems odd.
Anyway, file transfer, and remote assistance all working fine.
Setup:
My computer is on a peer to peer network consisting of 3 machines. I have
Win XP Home on my computer. A Linksys BEFSR81 router, which has version
2.44.2, dated 13 Dec 2002. UPNP is installed and operating.
My friends computer has XP Home on it, peer to peer network, behind a
Linksys BEFSR41 router. UPNP is installed and operating.
Windows Firewall is disabled on both machines.
Each machine is ASSIGNED an IP permanently.
-----------------------------------------------
Ok, that said, any suggestions? Did I leave anything out? Is there
anything you need to know also? Do you have any thoughts?
I would love some help on this problem.
Thanks
Jason

Does the audio work when you try the Audio Tuning Wizard in Messenger?
When it gets to the point where it asks you to speak into the microphone do
you see the audio level bars moving?

I doubt that helped him at all, it depends on the traffic
and if his friends or his computer is hooked up properly
to the messenger, there are 2 types of messenger. 4.7 and
5.0 which is windows messenger and the other is MSN
Messenger, there are differences.

Gary,
Regarding the "Audio Tuning Wizard", yes it works. The bars do go into the
yellow range.
Jeff,
Both computers are using XP Home, bot of us downloaded Messenger 4.7 from
http://messenger.msn.com/download/download.asp?client=0
This is the XP Messenger from what I chose on the left of the page.
I am going to re-verify the problem again this evening, as I have made some
changes on my end. I will post the result of that this evening.
In the meantime, any other suggestions?
Jason
