I have 5 areas in my XP Pro installation. In some, Windows Messenger
automatically loads and in some, it doesn't.
Can I make it so that it automatically loads in all areas?
Thanks,
Steven

Greetings Steven,
What exactly do you mean by "areas"?

Apologies - I mean that 5 people can login to their own accounts.
Thanks,
Steven

Hi Steven,
Ah, profiles you mean. It should load in all of them, the exception being if you have Norton
Antivirus 2003 installed, with multiple people on the PC, it can sometimes "get confused" --
if this is the case, simply turn off the Messenger scanning -- open Norton Antivirus
(Right-click on the Norton Antivirus icon in the System Tray/Notification Area (by the
clock), choose 'Open Norton Antivirus'), click Options, then Instant Messenger then uncheck
MSN Instant Messenger and click OK.
If you don't have Norton Antivirus 2003 installed, or this didn't solve the problem, as a
workaround, in the accounts where Messenger doesn't automatically load, just add a shortcut
in the Startup group. To do so, click the Start Menu, point to All Programs, right-click and
Startup group and choose Open. Then choose the File menu, then New, and then Shortcut. In
the location field, enter:
"%programfiles%\messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background
(exactly as shown above) then click Next, and then Finish.
