I have just purchased a new Toshiba laptop loaded with
XP. While attempting to load drivers for peripherals I
have repeatedly been told via pop-ups that XYZ.ABC file
is needed and to get it from Service Pack 1 CD. Trouble
is, there is no such CD. Both Toshiba and Microsoft point
at each other and tell me to call the other guy for
support. I just want to get the Service Pack so that I
can use my new laptop.

I have tried to resolve this bt downloading Service Pack
1a, but this only gave me a few patches and updates, not
he files that I need.

If you have Service Pack 1 installed, there will be a
Windows\ServicePackFiles folder. Whenever you are prompted for the SP1 CD,
redirect to this folder.

What is the name of the file?
Have you tried Toshiba's website for Toshiba drivers.
