I have an XP home box that is not able to get on the
internet. I can ping and run trace route to the internet
sites (www.yahoo.com for example) but it will not open a
webpage. I am getting no errors on my ethernet card and
have run Network setup wizard multiple times. ICS is not
on.
So far I have tried with both static and DHCP addresses.
Run MSCONFIG and disabled the startup items, reset the
default route with "netsh int ip reset" and reloaded IE
6.0 SP1 from IEAK build. I even ran "route -f" to force a
reset of the default route.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated?
Thanks,
Lee

Start the operating system from the CD-ROM,
When the computer starts from the CD, the system checks your hardware
and then prompts you to select one of the following options:
To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER.
To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.
To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
Press ENTER.
Press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement.
A box lists your current Windows XP installation, and then the system
prompts you to select one of the following options:
To repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R.
To continue installing a fresh copy of Windows XP without repairing, press ESC.
Press R to start the automatic repair process. After repairing Windows XP,
you may need re-download all updates.
