Error 115 when Installing Adobe Acrobat 5.0

Every time I try installing Adobe Acrobat 5.0, the
following error message apears and the installation is
terminated. I've tried installing in safe mode but to no
avail. The same problem persists with installing Acrobat
Reader. Can anyone help. I really appreciate any help I
can get. The error message is:

Component:Acrobat Exchange Files\Netscape Plug-in File\IE
plug-in
File Group:Netscape Plug-in
File: C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\nppdf32.dll
Error Number: -115

I've also had all sorts of problems trying to install the latest XP reader
from Adobe. So I am using 4.0, which runs perfectly. Such so-called back
releases which run perfectly are supplied as part of installation CDs for a
wide variety of products, and I'd recommend one of them.
