two problems

Hi,
Please help, I have two problems:

1) i always get msn messages from other people with
hotmail accounts advertising porn etc. They're strangers
that are not on my friends list. How do I get rid of
them or block these messages?

2) I cannot receive files or photos from my friends
through msn. What settings should i change to receive
files through msn?

1) There has been an upsurge in some Messenger (that is .NET Messenger) spam this past month.
This conversation did go through the Messenger server, but you may not be aware that anyone
can actually send you a message through the .NET Messenger network without being on your
contact list. For example, if you right-click your Messenger icon, choose "Send an Instant
Message", the Other tab, you can actually type in a Passport e-mail address and send a
message to them, without being on their contact list.

However, you can change this behavior, so that people will have to add your to their contact
lists before they can send you a message (note, if it's arriving using the 'group' method of
Messenger spam, this will only block the group spam in MSN Messenger 5), open up the main
Messenger window, click Tools, then Options, then the Privacy tab, click 'All other users'
(or 'All users' in MSN Messenger 5) and then click the Block >> button.

2) Due to the way Messenger receives files, any problem receiving files is most likely on
the side of the person sending (when you receive, you connect to your contact and download
the file). This is probably due to either the contact sending having a firewall that isn't
allow Messenger to connect to the correct ports, or not using a router with support for
Messenger file transfer, or an UPnP enabled router and MSN Messenger 5.
