I tried to reinstall Windows XP and have had a problem with connecting to
the internet ever since. The connection no longer works and when I try to
add a new connection, I get an Error711...Cannot load the remote Access
Connection Manager Service.
I then tried opening the Administrative Tools > Services and starting the
RACM there, but I get an Error 5: Access is Denied.
It looks as though I've restricted my access to my own computer somehow and
limited my ability to add new internet connections. Does anyone have any
advice as to what I should do?
An interesting note: A new program item has appeared in the Start > Programs
area called "Set Program Access and Defaults" that was not there before. The
target is:
%SystemRoot%\system32\control.exe appwiz.cpl,,3
This item was not there before and I'm wondering whether it might have
something to do with the problem. When I try to click on it, nothing
happens.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
