Sound problems

Have visited all of the recommended sites for WMP
troubleshooting and have tried all audio advice to no
avail. I can't get rid of a crackling sound when I play
my music through the media player. The sound is not
particular about file types and seems to come and go as
it pleases. I need your help. How do I get rid of the
annoying sounds? Any help would be much appreciated.
