How to clear the PAST ITEMS list in systray notification box?

know I've got better things to worry about,
but... does anyone know how to clear out the Past Items
list in the systray notification dialog. My list is
growing and growing and I don't know if Windows will
prune the list on its own or not.
FYI removing the items below from the registry has no
effect on the growing list of Past Items:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersi
on\Explorer\TrayNotify]
"PastIconsStream"=-

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersi
on\Explorer\TrayNotify]
"IconStreams"=-
