i changed my administrater password, and i forgot it.
i know the word but forgot the three digits on the end,
(it might have been two digits) can i regain access to my
administrater account without going through all possible
combinations, any help wuold be appreciated
ged

Hi,

You need to either remember the password or sign on to an account with Admin
priviledges and reset it. Unless you created a password reset disk
beforehand, if so now is the time to use it.

try starting in safe mode and logging onto the 'administrator' account.

from there you can change the password.

Or
Reboot to Safe Mode, select Administrator, leave password blank.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
Select the user and change the password.
If you are using Windows XP Pro and have encrypted data, you may
permanently lose access to the encrypted data.

After this is resolved, take precautions to not lose the password.
