system lock ups

My Xp home equipped laptop keeps locking up at random
intervals. even using quickrestore didnt fix it. Lockups
are happening even more often now, 1-15 mins. anyone else
having this happen?

Read on numerous posts that Microsoft patch 811493 is the cause of quite a
few of the freezes and slowdowns. Might work to uninstall this patch.
