the screen in my laptop freezes up is not just the screen=20
is EVERYTHING ! nothing works ! just the mouse pointer,it=20
moves but doesn't click any response from the computer=20
and ctrl/alt/del does not do anything either.I then=20
unplug the power and put it back on and press power on=20
the laptop and ....voil=E1 ...starts normally like nothing=20
ever happened ! my laptop is a Compaq Presario 720=20
with windows XP-sp1,recent windows update worsened the=20
problem no unknown email ever accepted,also I=20
have McAfee Firewall and antivirus running.
Any ideas how to stop or lessen the freezing ?

Have you tried troubleshooting anything?
See what programs are included in your startup tab (Go to Start Run and type
msconfig into the box)
Go to the general tab and click on Diagnostic startup. Reboot and see how that
does
