I run XP Home Edition with Windows Messenger 4.7. When I run
Messenger it does not automtically launch the dial up window to make a
connection to the internet. Is there soemething I need to set up
differently or has MS deemed this an unwanted function. All help
appreciated.

I had meant to say that I am using Freeserve's Broadband access via an
Acatel USB ADSL modem (although I seem to remember that I had the same
problem when I used a standard 56k modem dial up connection).
I see a few people have asked similar questions but no answers have
been posted so far - I hope someone out there can help!!!!!!
Many thanks, Mike
