Hi all,
I've got messenger 5.0.xx on a couple of machines xp/win98.
Everytime I start msn, it goes through the 'installing messenger' setup
screen
then finally loads up.

Weird or is this the way it's supposed to be?

tia!

Greetings,

This is the Windows Installer detecting that something has been changed.

You can use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to fix this.

First, download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:

For Windows 95, 98, ME:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/office2000pro/util22/1/W9X/EN-US/msicu.exe

For Windows 2000, XP:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/office2000pro/util20/1/NT4/EN-US/msicuu.exe

Run and install the program after you've downloaded it. After the setup is complete, click
Start, then Programs (All Programs if you're using XP), then Windows Install Clean Up.

Click MSN Messenger 5.0 and then click 'Remove'. Click 'OK' to the warning message that
comes up.

After this is complete, run MSN Messenger 5 again -- you may need to create a new shortcut
from the \Program Files\MSN Messenger folder.

If you get some type of error, you may need to install MSN Messenger 5 again:
