I keep getting the following message when I attempt to install Microsoft
Critical Update Q817287 ... any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi,
Open Windows Explorer to C:\Windows\system32, right-click/rename the
catroot2 folder to catold. Then retry the installation.

Afterwards, installing the Q817287: Critical Update (Catalog Database
Corruption in Microsoft Windows XP) fix will stop this above issue from
happening again

Yes, and thank you for the feedback.
FFI.....
What that article has you do is delete a file in the catroot2 folder.
Following my suggestion would have achieved the same thing.
