Is it absolutely necessary to install the "Microsoft .NET Framework version
1.1" from the Windows
update site ?
I'm just your average home user of Win XP home edition and don't use it for
programming or
anything out of the ordinary.

The size of the file is a bit annoying at 23 meg so if I don't need it I
won't get it.

Can anyone tell me if it's required.

Thanks, regards Boozo.

Hi Boozo,

No, it's not necessary. Frankly, the only people who need it know that they
need it. This is not a slight, it's just that the update is designed only
for a select group of users involved with development.
