Open Outlook Express, select Tools -> Options and under the General tab,
uncheck the "Automatically sign in to Windows Messenger" box. Click Apply,
then Ok and your done.

Greetings,

Yes you can. Just download and run this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/stopmessenger_oe.reg
You'll need to restart Outlook Express to see the change.

I think I could use this.
But is it reversible? How?
Thanks.

Greetings Raul,

Yes, it's completely reversible. Either by manually deleting that registry key, or running
this one:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/enablemessenger_oe.reg
