Can anybody help. Last week my PC started to say that it
had an old version of IE on it, I am running XP Pro. When
I try to download the IE 6.01 program , the PC then tells
me it has found a newer version on it(the system tells me
it is 6.02 I have on there), and cannot continue the
installation. Does anyone have any ideas for me to try.

A quick fix might be to uninstall (or roll-back) the
version of IE currently on your system, then download and
attempt to install the newest version.

You might also have an option to repair the current
installation from Add/Remove Programs, with which I have
had limited success.

Hi,

If you are running XP Pro you should have IE 6.0 and that
should be just fine for now...Go to
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System
Information and open.
Now, see System Summary?, go down to Internet
Settings/Internet Explorer and click on Summary to see
your version..It should read.. Ver:6.0.2800.1106
Build:62800.1106 and that should be up to date.
Also, use windows update to scan for updates when you
update or need to update and you should not have any
problems.
