how do i prevent messenger from starting when i log onto
the web in xp?

Greetings Kevin,

Unfortunately if it's just starting with Internet Explorer, it would be the web page you're
going to (ex. Hotmail). If you're using MSN Explorer to sign in, then it also will start
automatically.
