Hello,
I am trying to set up a VPN connection using XP. I am
trying to connect to a Windows 2000 Server computer. It
verifies the user name but does not register the computer
on the network successfully. All settings seem to be the
same as I have compared them to a Windows 2000 Pro
computer in the office. I even set up a new connection
with no problems using another Windows 2000 machine but
not hasving any luck with the XP. Am I missing something?
Thanks

Yes, it is XP Pro. I have been to Technet and read
through 305550 and 314076 among others. We have set it
up, as far as we can tell, by the book. I am thinking
there must be some lil ole check box somewhere that comes
checked by default or soemthing that requires us to
uncheck it. The connection is getting to the VPN server
because it does authenticate the user. But when it comes
up with 'registering the computer' on the network, the
connection fails. Its an error 720 which has to do with
PPP and dialup only it seems. We aren't dialing in. I'm
puzzled. Maybe there is something I have to do on the
server in order to register the computer but I have never
had to do it before with W2K.
Have you, or anyone, ever tried to set up a VPN
connection using XP Pro to a W2K server?
