Okay, I have a Linksys BERSR41W networked to one desktop and a laptop. Os is
wnXP Pro. Router firmware is 1.1 Release 17. Using MSN Messenger 5.

I need to use Voice/ Video, App Sharing, White Board, File Transfer, And
text chat. I have a static IP setup for my desktop and I have opened ports
for App Sharing, File Transfer. I also have UPNP enabled.

The problem is.... I can not get port range 5004-65535 to go into my router.
It only accepts 4 digit numbers. So the "65535" will not be accepted. Any
subjections

Voice will only work for me if I put my IP in the DMZ. But then, I loose App
Sharing etc.

Thanks for any help, Scott

Greetings Scott,

With UPnP enabled, you do not need to open any ports (in fact this can actually stop it from
working).

You might just be out of UPnP forwardings. To check/fix, click Start, All Programs,
Accessories, Communications, Network Connections. Right-click the "Internet Gateway" (should
be under the Internet Gateway heading) and choose Properties. Choose the Settings button,
click each 'msmsgs' or 'msnmsgr' entry and then choose 'Delete' to each one. Then close
Messenger (right-click the Messenger icon, choose Exit), then restart Messenger.

Also, you might want to try Windows Messenger for some of these features (file transfer won't
work of course because it's not UPnP enabled in Windows Messenger).
