voice+video problem

hello!... cannot establish voice and video connection.. i´m using win xp...
chat and communication by writing is normal.. and works well...the
information-line in messenger does tell: ..trying to get connection to pc...
but finaly it stops trying... result... no voice ... no picture... does
anybody have an idea to resolve this problem.. tried with dsl and with
isdn.. no difference.. tried with and without firewall.. no difference..
have no router... hm..

The problem could also be with your contact, are they able to establish voice (and/or video)
conversations with others?

As well, which firewall are you referring to?

thanks for your quick response.

just zone alarm... my contact can establish voice connection as we tried
successfully with side winder game voice share... ... but with messenger it
doesnt want to work...

but we also tried to switch off zonealarm.. but it made no difference.. do
we perhaps to restart messenger after closing firewall?

Hi Johann,

What I meant was your contact able to establish a voice conversation using Messenger to
someone else. GameVoice uses a totally different way to connect, so you can't really use it
to compare. As well, is your contact using a router?

You may actually have to fully uninstall ZoneAlarm, reboot and then try again.

As well, both you and your contact should go through the Audio Tuning Wizard (open the main
Messenger window, click the Tools menu, then Audio Tuning Wizard).

went through the wizard (i did successfully).. and if he did connect already
to other contacts..
