Jonathan.
I am trying to establish audio conversation with my son
using Windows XP. So, far, I have switched ISP, bought a
new computer, bought an expensive router, all to no
avail. I know that it can work, because we had partial
success after I swithed ISP. The problem was that it
kept cutting out and would only work if he called me. If
I called him the computers would not connect. I thought
that the problem was the computer he was using, and I'm
still sure it is. I bought a new computer, and he now
has the one I was using. I bought the UnPP Router for
him, the BEFW11S4 Version 2. I downloaded the latest
Firmware from Link Sys, I checked to make sure that UnPP
was enabled on the router. We disabled NIS on both ends,
we checked to make sure that the XP firewall was turned
off in Network Connections. The computers still won't
connect. They try, but then a message comes up saying
that there is a problem.
I have followed all your advice, and I'm still not able
to have an audio conversation, let alone a video and
audio one.
What is the problem? I've spent over $2000 and I'm still
not there. I'm getting very frustrated.

Mike C.,
Windows XP doesn't support audio transmission. Meaning it
doesn't support voice. Try Team Speak 2.

Try Yahoo Messenger. It's technically inferior to MSN Messenger, and
the audio and video is choppy, but you can get it working a lot
easier.
