Do requests for Remote Assistance transmitted via Windows Messenger work?
I've only been able to get RA to work by creating an rcBuddy.MsRcIncident
file on the computer requesting RA, then either emailing or copying that
file to the computer that will be providing the RA, and then launching that
file. WM v4.7.2009, BTW.
When I issue the request via Windows Messenger from "Help and Support", an
"Inviting <username> to connect to your computer. Please wait for a
response... Invitation has been sent out..." message appears. On the
destination computer, a "<username> is inviting you to start using RA. Do
you want to Accept or Decline the invitation" message appears. When I click
Accept, I get a "You have accepted the invitation from <username> to start
using RA" message. After that, however, nothing happens--the original
computer continues to say "Invitation has been sent out". Over an hour
later, nothing has changed.
When I issue the request via Windows Messenger itself, a "You have invited
<username> to start using RA. Please wait for a response..." message
appears. On the destination computer, a "<username> is inviting you to start
using RA. Do you want to Accept or Decline the invitation" message appears.
When I click Accept, I get a "You have accepted the invitation from
<username> to start using RA" message. After that, however, nothing
happens--the original computer continues to say "You have invited <username>
to start using RA". Over an hour later, nothing has changed.
What am I doing wrong?
