When i boot into my window screen destop a friendly pop
up comes up advertising,went to msconfig only three
things running not one of them i have mcafee fire wall
installed and virus protection installed i have unchecked
file printing sharing, did and adware scan nothing where
can it be hiding. tks for the help tom

You probably have spyware.
Run an updated virus scan.
Run Disk Cleanup checking all boxes except "Compress old files"
