I started getting a pop-up message for Messenger Upgrade
within the last few days. I tried to disable Messenger and
still kept getting the message. I upgraded and again tried
to disable the popup and with no success. Are this
upgrades ever tested? This is pretty annoying ... I don't
use Messenger ... how do I disable Messenger and
Microsoft's annoying popup message? In my opinion this
could qualify as SPAM mail.

Greetings Pete,

You can disable the update popups by downloading and running this .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/disableupdates.reg

However, to just disable Messenger, open up the main Messenger window, click Tools, Options,
then Preferences tab and uncheck 'Run this program when Windows starts'.
