Hello
i recently downloaded program from "c-net.com" 15day trail, but never
really got the chance to use it. now the trail period is up.I went and
removed what i thought were all traces of the program, and went into the
registry and through the find button and find next deleted what i thought
were all traces from it there, but still when i run it again , it comes up
trial period expired

Question Am i doing the right thing by searching the reg for all keys to
this program , or is there no way around trial software evaluation

Thanks

Hi Tom,

Trial software can use several different methods to indicate when the trial
period is over, a hidden key in the registry is only one of them (and good
luck finding it, it won't be obvious). You should have waited on installing
it until you knew you could use and test it. Your options now are to either
pay for and register the program, or contact the program vendor to see if
they will assist you (I doubt it, as they will not want a software crack for
their program released to the web).

Tom,

I'd write to the company and explain the situation. A lot of shareware
nowadays uses very advanced techniques to stop this sort of thing, so you're
more likely to cause problems on your machine by trying to disable their
trial system.
