View Full Version : "Message App Not Responding" on closedown

Almost every time I either restart Windows, or Turn Off the computer,
I get a small dialog box headed "Message App,,,) which initially
displays a progress bar, then presents a message saying "this program
is not responding.." The usual caveat about losing data if I chose to
close anyway, etc...

I do not use any Messenger Program, have never activated Windows
Messenger, or any other. After checking several MVP pages, I figured
it must be the Messenger that is listed in "services". So I disabled
it. It did not work. I stll get the message.

(BTW, Johnathan Kay in the messenger group, to his credit, :) said he
doubted that the service was causing the problem)

Anyone have any idea what else might be causing this and what might be
done to stop it?

(Running XP Home Edition)

Advice appreciated.

"Message App..." could be anything and not necessarily a Messenger related
problem. Have you tried contacting PSS (Product Support Services)?

appreciate the feedback... but....

If you mean MS product services, I would have to pay for it.

The only "Support" available to me is from my Computer Mfr, supposedly
the best tech support in the biz. HA! Their response to ANY and all
questions is to refer you to their knowledge base article on
re-installing the OS. I have NEVER gotten a direct answer to any
specific question. Never. From their point of view every problem
requires a re-install!

Thanks for the feedback.

Well, reinstalling Windows does fix everything that isn't hardware related.
I format and reinstall every 2 weeks and it keeps my computer running in top
shape.

Ridiculous! Should not have to reinstall at all.

I know! Why do you do that and why put that kind of idea in other peoples
head.

Unknown, worry not.

That idea would not stand a chance in hell of planting itself in me.
If constant reinstalling is the way to keep an OS humming along, I
think I shall resurrect the abacus.

Beyond ridiculous. Absurd.
