Can anyone help, please? I have a system with USB connections to a
pen scanner, A4 scanner, digital camera, pen drive, card reader, and
also a 'special' card reader used for my wife's Husqvarna sewing
machine. All the devices work properly every time except the
Husqvarna card reader which takes a 512Kb card and allows designs,
photgraphs, etc to be copied to the card. The sewing machine then
translates that to a pattern.

This is where the story really starts :

Nearly every time I start my pc (P4 2.5GHz, 512Mb, XP Home SP1 etc
etc) this one device will not start. The message in device manager
shows 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'. If I disable the device
and immediately enable it, everything works perfectly.

On the very odd occasion, the device will start correctly - this
happens probably once in every twenty starts.

I've moved the device from one USB port to another, I've also moved it
from one USB card to another with a different chipset, but no luck so
far.

Am I missing something obvious here, or will somebody be able to put
me out of my misery and pain?

I've been in touch with the manufacturers but so far they have no idea
why this is happening.

Here's hoping!
TIA
