Currently my plain is to replace most of my current
system >most likly not my DVD drive in the very near
future.

I'm running XP proffesional and I am wondering what will
happen.. the old computer will not have XP on it at all
anymore >if I keep any of it it will become a linux box
or maybe a win2k3 Eval box.< is there something I can do
before installing XP on my new system to maybe release
the registration on the old system???

You don't need to do anything before hand. You can't release activation. =
You can only newly activate the new install. As long as XP came from a =
shop there is no problem. Depending on how long the old one has been =
installed the activation wizard may activate over the internet or =
require you to ring.

You can type eula.txt in Start - Run to see if you are allowed to move =
it.

Greetings --

Assuming a retail license, simply remove WinXP from the computer
it is currently on, and install it onto the new one. If it's been
more than 120 days since you last activated that specific Product Key,
you'll most likely be able to activate via the Internet without
problem. If it's been less, you might have to make a 5 minute phone
call.

Have you ever answered a question that someone else hasn't already =
answered. Do you merely copy the answers the person has got in an effort =
to win MVP status.
