I can't figure out why Messenger won't start.
I uninstalled it via "RunDll32
advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%
\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove"
Removed succesfully, reinstalled with latest version,
installed succesfully, rebooted the pc, but when I try to
open it I get the Hour glass then nothing.
No icon on Task Bar, nothing. Task manager shows
"msmsgs.exe" is active with Mem usage of 2.852k and 0 cpu
usage.
I just replaced the video card could it be a coincidence?
I haven't noticed any other problems.

Greetings,

Do you have Norton Antivirus 2003 installed? Norton added a new "instant messaging scanning"
feature to Norton Antivirus 2003, which can conflict with Messenger and cause this behavior.
To stop it, open Norton Antivirus (Right-click on the Norton Antivirus icon in the System
Tray/Notification Area (by the clock), choose 'Open Norton Antivirus'), click Options, then
Instant Messenger then uncheck MSN Instant Messenger and click OK.

Jonathan;
Thanks for the reply. I Never had NAV. I do have Mcafee
security center with online virus scan.
I do want to add that I've been noticing a "CRTCCLIENT"
warning, every time I try to reboot the PC:
"Can't terminate program" ??? what program ???.
I did a MSCONFIG to see if for some reason I inadvertedly
loaded MSN but I couldn't find anything obvious.
Can A new video card cause this problem? Outlook is also
very slow in loading.
Thanks
