ALL Desktop Icons Disappear for one user

Hi,

I recently purchased a Dell 4550 computer with Windows
XP Home edition installed. I have two users set up.
Last night I shut the computer down with no problem
and no errors. This morning it booted up fine, gave me
the choice of my two users, and when I picked one
the Desktop came up with absolutely no icons at all
on the whole screen. The Start menu and task
bar work fine and everything seems in working order
but there a no Icons anywhere on the screen.

If I Log off and switch users and pick the other user,
everything comes up fine for the second user. All Icons
are on the desktop. When I go back to the first
user all icons are still gone.

Any ideas about what happened or how to restore desktop
Icons?
