Well, finally got it installed, but doubt its value, since it will not
interface for a video conversation with XP, which was what I considered the
major point.

Greetings Joel,
Yes it will, click the Actions menu, then Start Video Conference.

Hi Joel,
There should be both, and there is only one leaked version.

I under stand that, but perhaps I am trying to make a Video Conversation
with the XP WINDOWS MESSENGER. perhaps that is the problem. Not just
connecting to XP. Perhaps it would work if connecting to MSN Messenger on
XP.

Hi Joel,
MSN Messenger 5 and Windows Messenger on Windows XP for their built-in video options use the
RTC APIs built-in to Windows XP, they're exactly the same (and so does the Start Video
Conference option in MSN Messenger 6 on Windows XP). The Start Webcam option in MSN
Messenger 6 is exactly what it says, a one-way webcam (although both sides can have it
running at once) with no audio -- it was not designed to replace the normal "Video
Conference/Voice/Video Conversation" feature that we have today.

If no voice along with the video, then it is not much good. The Windows
Messenger in XP is a really good system, why not for us who have older
computers and cannot afford the potenital problems of upgrading to XP for
now, would be a nice thing for Microsoft to provide.

Hi Joel,
Clarification: you can still do audio with the Webcam option -- it just doesn't happen
automatically like with the voice/video/or video conference option, that's what I'm saying.

Right, the voice thing worked OK, just the video did now work. The people
using Windows Messenger in XP use the Video Conversation and I thought the
MSN 6 would interface with that function, but no, it does not. Can have a
voice conversation, OK. Have not tried the Webcam thing with anyone. Not
too sure I know anyone that has that. Perhaps when the final release comes
out, and everyone has the program, perhaps then will be able to get a check.

You can do the same thing in older systems. You may start both WebCam and Audio conversation at the same time.

If other people who is using MSN Messenger 5, they can download a WebCam plug-in to do this.
