Frequently after a windows update or a mcafee update,
when I start my computer I can't open windows messenger.
It is set to open when I start and usually appears on the
task bar. I try to open it, click on it on the program
list and nothing happens. To get it to open, I have to
restart, which is annoying. One other thing, this always
happens when Mcafee takes a long time to load at start
up.

Greetings Joan,
It shouldn't be a problem, what Mcafee products do you have installed?

Just the virus protection. I am not using the
firewall, didnt install that part. I use the xp firewall
only.
What else could be doing this? Thanks in advance for any
help you can give. It is greatly appreciated.

I have same problem. After i installed Mcafee virus V7(not
the firewall) i can no longer do Video or Voice function.
There must be something with Mcafee that is blocking MSN
Messenger in some way. I am also looking for clues like
Joan.
Any help appreciated.

Hi Frank,
I don't have a specific answer for you (not much experience with the latest Mcafee products),
but what happens if you uninstall Mcafee VirusScan? Does voice/video start working again?
