View Full Version : No Phone Option After Upgrade
s
December 5th 03, 01:53 PM
I'm using version 4.7.0104 on two home XP computers and when I accept the
current upgrade option the ability to use the "Make A Phone Call" option is
removed from the menu. To regain this feature on both machines I have had to
roll back to the older version. This is a major problem since I have a
monetary investment in my Phone Account. Feedback is appreciated.
Thanks

Greetings,
The Make a Phone Call feature has moved to MSN Messenger (5) and has been removed from the
latest Windows Messenger versions.
In order to use it, simply stay with your current version, or download MSN Messenger 5 and
sign in using your Passport (all you previous Net2phone setup will be there):

That is very very very nasty of Microsoft. Many people have paid PC phone
accounts and Microsoft prompted us to upgrade without telling its customers
the newer version would no longer support PC phone service. This is why
customers continue to be ****ed off at Bill ... I must agree this was a very
shi**y thing to do. I don't want to use MSN Messenger on my XP ... it does
not support white board, video, or app sharing. Win Messenger was our
"killer app". Shame Shame on Bill and all that sail in him. We will continue
to use the existing version of Win Messenger until it craps out.

One of my Messenger contacts loaded MSN Messenger on his XP and we could not
get a solid whiteboard, sharing or video connection using it, Windows
Messenger or Net Meeting. He removed MSN from his XP and we can again use
NetMeeting and Windows Messenger as before. I'm NOT willing to experiment
Windows Messenger is one of our most productive applications which is whe I
hope someone else devlopes a messenger with equiv feature so that I will not
be dependent on Bill and his buddies. Thanks for the info. though.
