I am using XP home. I do not want or need Windows
Messenger. Please, simple, complete and accurate
directions. I've tried to remove it using Add Remove
Programs. Must I also delete MSN Explorer? I use Comcast
Cable for high speed and AOL for practical reasons. How
would removing MSN Explorer affect my use of my Comcast
resources?

Greetnigs Barb,

To remove Windows Messenger, close down Messenger (right click the messenger icon in the
notification area/system tray and click close). Then click the start button, then click Run
and type in (copy-paste if you like):

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then click OK.
Messenger will then be uninstalled. For more detailed instructions and screenshots, go to,

Disabling MSN Explorer (or otherwise not using it) will have no effect on my Comcast
connection.
