View Full Version : Address bar on IE does not display

The address bar on internet explorer does not display,
regardless of whether or not it is checked in
View->Toolbars->Address Bar

I know about the double bar to resize the address bar;
there is no double bar to drag to expand the address bar.

F11 makes all the controls disappear, then makes them re-
appear, as usual. The other controls come and go
correctly, but not the address bar. The check mark on
the menu does check off or not, but no address bar.

I am running Windows XP Pro on a Dell Precision 340 with
1 Gig of RAM and 80 Gig of disk, mostly available. All
MS patches and upgrades have been applied.

Any suggestions?

Perhaps unlocking the toolbars will help!

Hi Joe,

Go to View -->toolbars and make sure Address Bar is checked. If it isn't,
make sure the "Lock Toolbars" option is unchecked and then check it.
Next, take a look to the far right of your toolbar and see "ADDRESS "
there. If you do, just use your mouse and "grab" the vertical line to the
left of it and pull over.

If for some reason you can't bring up your internet explorer's address
window, you can type your internet address in the run line under the start
menu.

Thanks,
Ajit Mohan

Ajit,

Yes, "Lock Toolbars" was checked, and unchecking it
solved the problem. Thank you very much. I do not
recall checking it, and did not know what it did, so I
had never messed with it.

Thank you thank you!
