How can I run a check on my floppy disc drive???

If it can:
format a known good floppy disk,
write about 1.4 MBytes of files to that disk,
and then read those files back.

It's in good shape.

Now, if you want to check A:'s FAT, try:
"chkdsk" at the A: prompt.
