Disk IO error on boot from xp cd or boot disk?

When I try to install xp on my compaq presario I get a
disk IO error when I try to boot from a cd or a set of xp
boot disks. Can anyone help me?

Hi Jack,

It means there is probably a hardware configuration problem. Check that =
the drive is properly detected in the system BIOS. Also, it may help to =
open the case and reseat the drive cabling and ensure correct placement =
of the jumper.
