I have four rogue programs in my startup that I can't get rid of! One
doesn't even exist on my hard drive anymore, I deleted it months ago!

When you run msconfig, and go to startup, there is a list of programs there
which include ones I want to get rid of, but I can't figure out how to
remove them so that they don't try to start with windows. I removed the
ones that where listed in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start
Menu\Programs\Startup, but others remain listed that I cannot find much less
remove. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You may need to run regedit (type regedit in the run command) and navigate
to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Run" in the
right hand pane you should see the programs referenced you want to get rid
of. Delete the key name in the right hand pane. (be careful you select the
correct one)

Budd,

First, try to disable any programs from starting up from within the options
settings. Then visit the following site for a complete list of startup
locations;
