I installed WinXP Home. Then I installed service pack 1
plus all the available critical updates for windows,
internet explorer 6.0, etc.

When I try to access any website that has a java applet,
I get an error message that my web browser is not java-
enabled.

In fact, it is, I configured tools, options, security and
confirmed that the browser's parameters are java-enabled.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, but it didn't work. The java engine is installed
but the website is not recognizing it. It must have
something to do with the way I installed the updates.

Thanks for the suggestion but the jvm is installed, but
now java websites will recognize it. Maybe it is not
installed properly. I did install it via your link but
with no success. I think it has something to do with the
way I installed the WinXP Home updates over the original
version.

Try installing Sun's Java plugin.
