Some thing's i need help with Please.. What do i need for win xp home
need to run on my pc..Is it best to do a clean install.
Is there a web site i can get to check my pc. I have win xp Downloaded but
it is a iso file ext! and i dont know how to burn it so my pc will
understand what it is. When burned it what then yes i know how to burn
data/music etc,etc.Can win xp home use win 98se for some things. And what
are the pit fall's of installing xp.. yes i know i will need a lot of things
to use win xp.


I am new to computers Cant u tell.

First thing - Get a legal copy of XP. The pirated copy you have downloaded
will give you problems.

Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/upgrading/advisor.asp
and run the Upgrade Advisor. It will check your system for XP compatibility
and will tell you about any problems you may have with software and
hardware.
XP is not the same as 2000. Since you have 98 installed now a Upgrade
version of XP is all you need. Buy the retail version, not the OEM version.
I have seen the Home Upgrade for $79.00 in discount stores.
You can upgrade your present installation of 98, or do a clean install of XP
if you want. Note that a clean install will result in the loss of all data
on your hard drive. If your present installation has been running OK then a
upgrade will be fine. If you choose to do a clean install you will have to
use your 98 CD as a qualifying product. The XP installation will prompt you
thru the process.
Read everything carefully before you start and follow all instructions, you
should not have any problems with the upgrade.
