How can I update MSN messenger on x number of XP desktops
(ca. 1000). Users have only "users" right and we are
using usually MSI packages to distribute them through GPO.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Marc,
You can distribute the MSN messenger update also through the group policy.
Download the update file and create an MSI package for it. You can then
push out the package to the client computers in your organization.
This link is contained in the following document that describes the basic
technology and compares competing products:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/planning/management/swinstall.
asp
A technical summary of installer technology is located at the following Web
site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo/administration/management/siam
wp.asp
For a detailed description of the technology, consult the "Microsoft
Windows 2000 Server Deployment Planning Guide," which is one of the volumes
included with the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit.
Hope this helps.
Regards
Ajit
