I have two machines networked behind a linksys 4 port
router. The router has the latest version of its
firmware installed that is unpnp compatible. I have
turned on universal plug and play and the router shows up
in my network and I see an internet gateway too of both
machines. Neither machine has icf running. They share
an internet connection through a cable modem. I am
trying to use voice features of messenger to communicate
with my Dad. He is on a different cable system but is
using the same router as me. On one of my two machines
he can hear me just fine and I can hear and see him (I
don't have a camera). Messenger works perfectly. On the
other of my two machines we connect fine but I can hear
and see him but he cannot hear me. The microphone and
speakers are set up properly and as far as audio tuning
wizard goes everything appears to be working properly.
If I try to connect to messenger between my two machines
here the same thing happens. The one that cannot talk to
my dad cannot talk to the machine here sitting next to it
either even though there is a connection and I can hear
the other macine on this one. I have tried going in the
dmz and deleting the msmsg services and restarting but
that didn't help. I find it odd that one of the machines
works perfectly and the other on cannot be heard.
