Chris,
It could be several things. you should first check that
your hardware meets the compatibility lists. You can have
windows do a check. If thats not the issue you might want
to try deleting out all your vid and adapter drivers and
letting them reinstall themselves. If in fact the drivers
aren't known locally by xp (which is super rare and will
refer you back to the compatibilty list) then you can
still safe mode boot by tapping f8 after your systems
post. Safe mode by the way is a good test of the drivers
stability in your machine since it will just use the bare
minimum for a safe boot. Also make sure that you have at
least 128M ram (xp requires 64 but thats really not
enough) and that the ram is good. If you get any blue
screens write down the address number. If you get the same
number twice the ram is bad. Ram address are so plentiful
that a violation at the same address is impossible without
a bad sector in your memory. I HOPE SOME OF THIS HELPS!
