View Full Version : Trouble logging to Windows Messenger

For the last 2 months I 'm having trouble logging to
Windows Messenger (thru my hotmail account). The thing is
that the Messenger tries to connect but will fail several
times and I have to retry connecting many times until I'm
able to do so. This is really annoying, I used to be able
to login in the first attempt.
Any idea?
Thanks.

Greetings,
This could be a result of the Internet Explorer security settings -- open Internet Explorer,
click the Tools menu, then Internet Options, then Advanced tab, scroll to the Security
section, and verify that "Check for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify
that 'Use SSL 2.0' and Use SSL 3.0' is checked, then click OK. Then try again.

Jonathan,
I made the changes that you suggest, still I'm having
truble logging in. A message pops up saying username
and/or password incorrect, but they are fine. After
several retries and a lot of time I can log in. I checked
the firewall, it's set to allow MSN on all ports, and even
if I disable the firewall the problem persists, so it's
not the firewall. I have DSL on WInXP, no router.

Hi,
The only thing that could really do this is if your computer's clock is set incorrectly.
Double-check that the day, month, and year are set correctly (just double-click the clock in
the corner of the screen).
