cd-rom instaled

I just got a dell dim.8300 and i added a 40x asus cd-rom,
the system recognizes the device but it can't play or run
any cd, it keeps asking to insert a cd on the drive. Can
someone help me please?

The drive is maybe not working properly or it needs updated firmware. You
should be able to get this from the Asus website.
