cd rom not reading discs

all of a sudden the other night, my drive will not read
discs, I even put in another drive.
When I open explorer, it shows the drive, but no icn
showing what cd is in, when I click on it, it says to
insert a disc(which has one), even device manager says
there is no problem, tried installing new drivers and
restoring to earlier check point. doesn't read game or
music cd's now.
anybody got any ideas????

Sounds like the motherboard may have developed a problem. If the
CD-Rom is the only device on the secondary IDE bus, try linking it as
a slave to the HDD and see if that works.
